The aim of this project is to create a pleated lamp that combines classic and modern design, based upon the theory of aesthetic sustainability. The classic expression is presented in the overall shape, and the modern expression is shown in the pleated pattern. The combination of shape and pattern causes the viewer to be met with recognisability and engagement in order to decode the complexity of the pattern. The patterns are inspired by birds, from their flight patterns such as murmurations, but especially the patterns in their wings and feathers.
