Temaet for forårets forelæsninger er 'The Art of Analysis'.

The lecture will be a presentation of selected projects by manthey kula. It will focus on built work, but also on the office’s unbuilt “paper projects”. The architects will talk about their approach to design and attempt to analyze some reoccurring motifs and themes in their production by linking to important characters from their own education such as Sverre Fehn, Christian Norberg-Schulz and John Hejduk that have had an influence on the work of the office.

About
manthey kula is a Norwegian architectural practice established in 2004 by Beate Hølmebakk and Per Tamsen. Tamsen has his architectural degree from Lund University, Sweden. Hølmebakk studied architecture at the Oslo School of Architecture (AHO). Since 2007 Hølmebakk has been a professor at AHO.

manthey kula’s production spans from ideal, explorative projects to public commissions. The office works at the intersection of art, architecture and landscape architecture, paying special attention to site, form and narrative.

Work from the office is widely presented in architecture magazines, lectures, exhibitions and in architecture collections. manthey kula has been nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award in 2009, 2011, 2019 and 2022. Currently the office is working on the National Memorial at Utøyakaia, the Permanent exhibitions at the new Munch Museum, the Norwegian Veteran Monument and a viewing platform for the National Tourist Routes.
