Corporate Architecture - Creating value through the means of the physical environment
Research project by PhD student Ulrik Stylsvig Madsen, Architect.
The value of architecture is to be seen as a very complex and dynamic concept.
It is not only to be measured by the assessment of real estate or by ways of making the building industries more effective. Instead you also have to look at the way the physical environment effects people and how their experiences give rise to new kinds of values, each experience varying, as it depends on individual preferences. The identity of a particular building is created through such experiences.
Value of architecture is therefore not seen as a static concept, but rather as a concept of continual change.
The project aims to investigate this concept through a series of case studies, each case focusing on the way architecture creates values and identity for a particular company.
The project is a co-operation between CINARK and the Centre for Management Studies of the Building Process at The Copenhagen Business School.
