Can a hospital garment help patients hold on to their feeling of self?

This project has created a garment that betters the experience for patients in intensive care who are bedridden and has a variety of tubes fixed to them. At the same time the garment makes it as easy as possible for the nursing staff to tend to the patients.

Most patients feel sicklier and more depressed when wearing white hospital gowns and the garment combats that feeling by giving the patients a choice. The styles are comfortable, practical, and yet presentable. Vertical openings along the sides and broad sleeves creates easy access without the necessity of pulling or ripping.

An everchanging print creates the opportunity to mix and match colors, expanding the personal choice even further so the patients can feel presentable and able to express their identity — or to be as anonymous as they wish to be.
