Project
Josephine Elvira Maryann Roubert

Can the transformation of an industrial building create change and hope for criminals?

The project looks at how to transform a centrally located industrial building into an open prison. The architecture will be developed as a hybrid on the site, and the programme proposes several features.

The focus is on a nursery that paves the way for rehabilitating the inmates, providing them with an everyday life with their own responsibility and social interaction via education and joint activities. The project embraces the contrasts between darkness and hardness — crime and industrial building — light and hope — with plants that sprout, grow and presage hope of a better future.
