Rethinking healthcare garments

This project attempts to solve the functional issues of the uniforms used by Danish healthcare workers, specifically regarding mobility and the tendency of the clothes to become transparent over time.

Yuniform is a prototype of a kimonolike medical gown, which offers extensive flexibility size-wise. A more flexible jersey is included near the joints to improve mobility.

To prevent transparency, Yuniform uses a polyester based remazol dyeing. Since the fabric currently used by the healthcare department is a cotton polyester mix that drastically improves the lifespan of the clothing compared to 100% cotton, the project participants decided to target the polyester and chemically burn out the cotton of the fabric samples to simulate the washing process, which tends to remove the cotton of the fabric over time.
