Objects from France's former colonies that were acquired under dubious means are scattered throughout French museums. The Museum of Return is a decolonization institute located in the Parisian park Bois de Vincennes. The museum focuses on the safe return and archiving of these objects as well as ceremonial and exhibition spaces that are scattered throughout the park.  The location of each space is in relation to a colonial instance or legacy at the park, serving to help contextualize the return of contested art through their historical relationship to French colonial history.
