The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Auditorium 2, Danneskiold-Samsøes Allé 51, 1434 Copenhagen K
The symposium will discuss the challenges and possibilities of generating a public city today with point of departures in examples from Australia and Denmark. How can cities embed notions of "a public" in planning for a privately financed future? Where are the monuments? What is the role of the public institutions in thinking through the city as a long term public proposition? What are the strategies for a public city? What are the role of institutions and public clients? Is it possible to design for an enduring public?
