Digital Practice (2008)

Dato
14.03.2008 - 07.04.2008

An exhibition by Institute for Design and Communication andCITA (Centre for Information Technology and Architecture), KADK.

The exhibition Digital Practice presented results from research and teaching at Institute for Design and Communication and CITA. The event took place in spring 2008 at the gallery Meldahls Smedie at the The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation. Through presentation of drawings, models and full scale works the exhibition demonstrated the potential of digital media within architecture and a wide range of new materials for architectural design and tectonics.

The exhibition showed examples of architectural works created in an interdisciplinary context with related disciplines such as computer science, building technology and construction, design, fashion, textile, cinema, dance and interactive art. Case-studies exemplified how technologies transfer between architectural profession and innovative high-tech industries can create synergy between the present reality and the future perspective.

The exhibition demonstrated experiments in 3D modelling and parametric design, in Rapid Prototyping and CAD CAM, in intelligent materials and interactive textiles and included new materials and concrete models that explore the possibilities in constructions based on random patterns.
