School of Ecological Crafts

Dato

Practise what you preach: The study of green building - in a building constructed according to the same principles.

At the exhibition '70 % Less CO2' you can explore the project 'School of Ecological Crafts', a learning hub for the development of sustainable building techniques across the trades of the construction industry.

The sustainable approach requires that building materials have minimal climate impact and that the logistics minimise the conveyance of materials to the construction site.

Situationsplan, Levantkaj

The cores of the school building are made of soil excavated within a two-kilometre radius of the construction site. The bridge structure between the cores is made of Nordic wood. The project studies the potential of processing the various natural materials: the strength realized by ramming earth and cross laminating timber.

The project is an example of how architects and engineers together  can build sustainably in the future without comprimising the potentials of tectonics.
