2089: World Ark
One day, humankind may need to evacuate the entire planet as a result of the current climatic changes.
When basic needs for a new habitat have been fulfilled, the need to re-establish identity and society will arise. In order to do this we must secure access to the collective memory that is our world heritage.
2089: World Ark investigates how to preserve the world’s common heritage in a future where humans need to leave their tangible heritage behind. We suggest a digitised archive containing extensive information on our world heritage, working on the basis of the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The project is primarily communicated through a sculptural installation. The installation depicts the transformation from a physical collection of world heritage to a complete digital experience. A digital presentation next to the installation will raise and discuss certain questions.
