Manifesto
How do you navigate and articulate yourself as a young fashion designer in the complex field of sustainability?
The global textile sector is responsible for 1.2 Gt of greenhouse gas emissions, and an estimated 75–95% of the new garments produced by the current fashion industry are an overproduction that will never be sold.
In MANIFESTO, fashion design students have articulated their own artistic response to the ongoing climate crisis.
Through personal manifestos, they have found their own way of navigating the complex field of sustainability that includes social, environmental, economic, and cultural levels of crisis. Each student has worked on ways to create responsibly-made design to prolong the phases of use by thoroughly investigating who they are designing for and how their design can create long-lasting value.
