My intention was to break down the classical archetype of a bed. There aren’t many more attributes to it then to accommodate the resting bodies of people. The shape of the bed has remained more or less uniform for centuries. Changes have mostly been cosmetic - decorations and embellishments.

Inspired by the city of Copenhagen that runs on bicycles I designed a knock-down bed transportable by bicycle to eliminate the need for a motorized vehicle when relocating so that it would promote a sustainable way of living and reduce the carbon footprint. I believe this is the way forward if we want to reduce the damage we inflict upon the planet. To incorporate bicycle culture into our lives we should design furniture to fit that lifestyle.
