This project is about the transformation of urban village in Wenzhou, China. Transform the extra floors which added by local residents into a continuous roof garden system, and introduce roof planting garden and community activities spaces to connect the whole community. This modest way of urban renewal is also a criticism of the government's current demolition strategy.

Community strategy
Compared with the government's current strategy, this strategy retains residents’memories of their birthplace. Even though lose the indoor space of top two floor, it becomes safer to move the informal added load-bearing weight and to fill lighter materials. At the same time, the use of the original building structure is also more sustainable compare with the government's strategy of tearing down the whole community. This strategy also takes into account the heritage of the the traditional vernacular approach to space, in line with the local regional characteristics. At the same time, the development of local residents ' planting habits, the introduction of community activities can connect people together, placing greater emphasis on the role and characteristics of the community.

Different activities are separated by inner circle and outer circle. The outer circle of the roof garden is mainly semi- public area. Residents can only access the roof through stairs inside the building, but the roofs of different buildings are connected by a bridge, forming a circle. It also means that residents in the building can reach other people's roofs via a bridge. Each building has a similar function, mainly divided into planting areas, activity rooms and storage rooms.
For the outer circle, I position the external staircase connecting the central plaza and the roof garden which will allow people to enter the roof garden directly from the ground. The buildings surrounding the central plaza are connected to each other.
