The term ‘Soundscape’, coined by the author of The Soundscape, R. Murray Schafer, refers to the sonic environment of any given field of study (Schafer, 1993, p. 274). The term can be used to describe everything from abstract constructions to actual environments.
This project consists of a series of connected architectural “instruments” in the existing soundscape of Kalvebod Fælled. These instruments work as moments within the landscape, framing specific phenomena of natural sound.
How can a changing natural soundscape translate into architectural elements? And how can constructions of sound add to the meeting between people and nature?
