By proposing a series of celebrative deconstructions , the project eyes an opportunity to reshape contracting villages and to strengthen their communal coherence. While a festival relocates amongst demolishing buildings, a guesthouse of re-used materials underpins the future of rural Lolland. Unveiled qualities combine with a network of hiking routes, supporting villages' intermediate stages.

As the built environment in rural Lolland is decreasing, a festival is increasingly marking its performative remanence.

It is already a drastic act, to erase the carefully built architecture of a village, no longer regarded as thriving. And to extend the time of demolition is only more trouble. Quoting Haraway, I find it meaningful to ’staying with the trouble’, when we choose to settle and unsettle from the land we live on.
This is an environmental concern, considering the immense waste in building industry’s production and demolition, besides a concern of the social implications following political decision-making on architecture in rural Lolland.

Generator for – and measure of – the succesfull deconstruction of Birket village.
A shelter and outdoor kitchen is erected from the remains of annual deconstruction festivals. Profit and materials is used for its construction – potentially resulting in a taller guest house.

With the workforce of demolition workers – already busy deconstructing Birket village – the new house is fed with bricks of the deconstructions. Demolition workers are suggested to make their deconstructions matter in a direct, local re-use.
