'Collection' is a transformation of two old archive buildings. Through substraction and addition new urban spaces are created that connects the buildings, the metro and the city in a new way.

The special qualities are related to the two big storage buildings that lies as two monumental chests safekeeping hidden treasures. In over a hundred years the buildings have housed our common history in the form of miles and miles of archive documents. Today the buildings are empty. As they are specifically build for storage, they won’t be able to change function without damaging some of the essential qualities of the buildings.

The need for storage facilities are however, as big today as ever, and big remote storage facilities are being build in the province where most of our cultural heritage is being kept safe, hidden from the broad public.

'Collection' is an enquiry into these enormous hidden treasures, a museum where collections are shown in their entirety with the minimal impact of curators; a place where objects are seen as part of a whole and not as individuals.
