Choreography of Logistics: Architecture of the Consumer Society

Program
Urbanism & Societal Change
Projekt af
Meggan Collins, Jana Possehn

The project is a critique of the large black box infrastructure which has occupied not only the peripheral landscape for centuries, but our cities more recently as well.

Once the agent of large corporations, this project explores how the continuous growth of consumption could not only become an urban generator for societal change but also a more sustainable process.

With Copenhagen’s ambitions to become the world’s first carbon-neutral capital, the increasing population and rising on-demand society present multiple challenges. After all, ondemand urbanism remains a highly unsustainable process, increasing congestion and pollution in our cities.

Therefore, this project seeks to investigate an alternative sustainable metabolism for Copenhagen’s distribution network by utilising the existing metro system to switch from a truck-based to a metro-based distribution system, thereby reducing carbon emissions.
