Forelæsningen ‘Between Fact and Fiction’ af den tyske arkitekt Olaf Grawert, partner i b+ (tidligere Brandlhuber+) og underviser på ETH i Zürich er en del af forelæsningsrækken 'International Lecture Series', hvor Det Kongelige Akademi - Arkitektur inviterer store internationale navne indenfor til en eftermiddag med fokus på væsentlige internationale temaer i arkitekturen. Temaet for forårets forelæsninger er 'The Art of Analysis'.
True for many professions and industries, the social and technological challenges imply a radical change for architecture. However, architects don't seem to understand their role in this transformation or aren't able to communicate it to the wider public. "Facts are no longer enough to really convince people, we have to tell a story." — as architect and former politician Oana Bogdan stated— the question is: Which story do we want to tell? And who are we?
The lecture is a presentation of Grawerts work including the German Pavillon at this year’s Venice Architecture Biennale entitled 2038; a retrospective show that uses film and fiction, to (story)tell the systems behind architecture.
After the lecture a panel with rector Lene Dammand Lund and Professor Deane Simpson will discuss the work in relation to the theme ‘The Art of Analysis’.
