SubSyst Simulator
Gaming for sustainable food.
At the exhibition '70 % Less CO2' you can explore the project 'SubSyst Simulator'.
The SubSyst Simulator is a serious web game. It is designed to increase players’ knowledge of sustainable food production and consumption and raise awareness about the potential of circular economy in food production.

The players of the game must sustain a city. For instance, the user can play the part of a food producer who manages a food-energy and waste-processing system. During the game, different options for minimising the carbon footprint of food production are visualised.
User analyses based on pre- and post-gaming questionnaires show that the game increases players’ knowledge of sustainable food production.
