This panel discussion coincides with the opening of the Cave_bureau exhibition at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Denmark. This is the sixth and last exhibition in the series 'The Architect’s Studio', which has focused on showcasing a new generation of pace-setting architects engaged in the production of sustainable and socially aware architecture, whilst critically facing the challenges of globalisation.

Panel

  • Professor Phil Ayres - Royal Danish Academy
  • Kabage Karanja - Cave_bureau
  • Curators Kjeld Kjeldsen and Mette Marie Kallehauge - Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

The panel will discuss the core thematics, strategies and intentions underlying the work of Cave_bureau and to articulate connections to ongoing research at the Royal Academy that combines fermentation practices and weaving – the weaving component of which has been instrumental in the making of the Shimoni Cave, which forms a part of the exhibition at Louisiana.

The discussion will also probe the relevance and contribution of these works to contemporary discourses and spatial practices seeking to respond to ecological disruption and social injustices.
