Exclusion - an art installation made by KAKM (Det Kongelige Akademis Konsortium for Menneskerettigheder)

WHY?

The idea behind the exhibition is to build a wall with a door that sits 1.5 meters above the ground and thus too high to walk through. Just as the high benches around Copenhagen should bring attention to rising water levels, our aim is to bring attention to the problems people may encounter if, for example, they have difficulty walking and a door threshold can seem really high.

With attention to the need for universal design, we want to get people thinking about the importance of architecture in the everyday life for all people.

The exhibition will be at the Royal Academy Library from 23. November to 14. December 2022.

                       WHO?

We are students from the Danish Royal Academy of Fine Arts from the student initiative The Royal Academy's Consortium for Human Rights (KAKM).
Our purpose is to create awareness about subjects that touch upon human rights in architecture and design and to focus on the people who are too often overlooked in architecture and design.

For the next two semesters, we are focusing on people with disabilities in connection with universal design and we are working, among other things. together with SUMH and Bevica Fund.

KAKM is open to everyone to join a community that values diversity and inclusion.
