This project is a study in the future use of algae as a source of bioenergy and possible carbonneutral solutions that can be implemented into existing or eroding architecture, to be reused in an an alternate way.

The project is an attempt to place industry and nature within a city centre, with the intention of creating a more fluent transition between them and at the same time creating a transparent learning environment about alternate energy for the general populace. The project focuses on freshwater microalgae and saline macroalgae, also known as seaweed. They are both implemented architecturally into the site with the use of existing algae systems, such as open racewayponds and closed photobioreactors. This is to create a bigger interaction with the city, to see how algae may react with existing materials, as well as finding possible lines of production for bioenergy.
