Pigmenta
My practice is rooted in local material and immaterial resources. Through the exploration and shaping of natural materials, craftsmanship, culture, and products, I seek to connect people with the nature and culture they encounter in their daily lives.
In 2025, I am launching a new brand called Pigmenta – a company and platform dedicated to the production, development, and application of ochre pigments. These pigments have been used by humans since the dawn of time but have not been extracted or utilized in Denmark since 1965. My goal is to revive and expand the knowledge of Danish earth pigments in contemporary industry and craftsmanship.
Today, colors are primarily synthetic, environmentally harmful, and arbitrary. Pigmenta aims to reestablish the natural, eco-friendly, and meaningful materiality of color. With Pigmenta, I want to expand our perception of color—so that we don’t just see yellow or red but also a place, a history, a landscape, and a craft.
I believe that in the times we live in, we should look inward—and sometimes backward—before directing our gaze outward and forward. We should examine nature, culture, and history: What is available locally? What have we done historically? And how can this be integrated into a modern context? These questions drive Pigmenta and my future work.
