Semester Dates
Autumn semester runs from 1 September until 31 january
Spring semester runs from 1 February until 30 June.
It is important that you are present at the campus until the end of semester and participate in all exams to obtain all your credits and grades.
Limited places
Due to a limited number of study places, please be aware that students applying for exchange are not guaranteed a place.
We often have more applications than the study places we can offer to exchange students. It is therefore important that the student demonstrates interest and has a relevant background within the specific study area. We strongly recommend that students tailor their portfolios and motivation letters to the study programme they are applying for.
In addition, we have limited capacity each semester and typically admit approximately 25 exchange students in the autumn semester and 30 in the spring semester across all our programmes.
Please note that partner schools can nominate a student for only one semester of exchange at the Royal Danish Academy.
It is not possible to apply for an extension of the exchange period.
Workshops
Exchange students will have access to workshops, laboratories and collections that are affiliated with the study programme they are admitted to.
In several of the workshops and laboratories, however, students are required to undergo an introductory course to ensure that the technique, craftsmanship and security are in order.
It is mandatory to wear safety shoes in almost all workshops.
Language Requirements
Submission of an English language test is not required for applicants to our English programmes. However, a strong command of English is expected. Please note that our programmes may arrange online interviews to get a sense of applicants' English proficiency.
It is possible for non-Danish-speaking students to study Danish programmes; guidance can be given in English, however please be aware that the teaching is in Danish.
Accessibility for students with special needs
With regard to accessibility for students with special needs (e.g. wheelchair access), please note that due to the protected status of many of our buildings that special access is limited.
