Center for Bæredygtig Bygningskultur på Det Kongelige Akademi tager afsæt i et ønske om at bidrage til en fremtidig bæredygtig bygningskultur. Bæredygtig bygningskultur forstås som den betydningsskabende kultivering og helhedsskabende syntese af teknologiske, kulturhistoriske og æstetiske forhold – i omsorgsfuld respekt for de planetære grænser. 

Målsætningen er at koble kravet om reduktion af drivhusgasser og materielle ressourcer med bevarelse og styrkelse af bygningsarvens æstetiske virkninger og kulturelle værdier – til glæde for nutidige og fremtidige generationer.

Drawing on the Archives vol. 1/3

This publication explores how archival materials may serve as a critical basis for cultivating a sustainable building culture. The overall intention is to demonstrate how new architectural practices aimed at responding to the findings of climate science may build on a well-documented technological, historic and architectural foundation. This book is written in collaboration with Copenhagen City Archives as part of the research project ‘City Memories’.

Drawing on the Archives vol. 2/3

This publication presents a curated selection of drawings and models created by students in the master’s degree programme Cultural Heritage, Transformation and Conservation during the spring of 2022. This volume features design proposals for new entrances to the buildings of the National Museum. 

‘Drawing on the Archives’ emerges from the research project ‘City Memories’, developed in collaboration with the Copenhagen City Archives. The project explores how archival materials can serve as a critical basis for cultivating a sustainable building culture. The overall intention was to demonstrate how new architectural practices aimed at responding to the findings of climate science may build on a well-documented technological, historic and architectural foundation.

HANDS ON – The Value of Building Culture

This publication covers a substantive field of approaches to architectural heritage. Some articles deal with traditional design methods, material science, the history of craftsmanship and its opportunities of application in a contemporary building practice. Others focus on cultural heritage as a contemporary practice and engage with emphasising its present value. While others again engage more philosophically with aesthetic ideas and perception.

This publication is concerned with the architecture of resistance, resilience and robustness as the core of heritage discourse. Researchers and PhD-fellows associated with the master’s degree programme Cultural Heritage, Transformation and Conservation at The Royal Danish Academy, present their latest research as of 2017.

Om bygningskulturens transformation

Denne publikation henvender sig til alle, der arbejder med at bevare og udvikle vores bygningskultur. Bogen viser en række eksempler på viden, analyser, metoder og modeller, der kan kvalificere bygningskulturens forvaltning og transformation. ’Om bygningskulturens transformation’ er skrevet af forskere ved Det Kongelige Akademi. Forordet ‘En dybere mening’ er skrevet af Juhani Pallasmaa.

Lost & Found

This publication is an anthology containing the collective efforts of students, teachers and researchers on the master’s degree programme Cultural Heritage, Transformation and Conservation from 2010 to 2012. We decided to name this book Lost & Found because we are seeking a familiarity with approaches and narratives which may not necessarily be new but may have been forgotten. This is our attempt to identify some of these aspects once again.
