Academy Talks Design: Mie Albæk Nielsen

Academy Talks Design is an open lecture series that lets leading international practitioners share perspectives, critical insights, and approaches to contemporary design. Open to all, the talks offer a rare opportunity to engage with a broad range of influential voices shaping design practice.

Writer and creative director Mie Albæk Nielsen works across design, film and literature. Drawing on a career spent crafting stories in many forms, she will reflect on the power of narrative to shape culture, creativity and contemporary design. 

She studied fashion design at Designskolen Kolding and co-founded the design studio Femmes Régionales. She now works as a creative director at filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn's studio byNWR, where her work sits at the intersection of design, art, and film. She has recently completed a scriptwriting programme at the University of Southern Denmark and is at work on her second novel, From the Neck Down, set in the fashion industry.
