The Open Air Museum at Sorgenfri wants to exhibit a collection of South Swedish ”bonadsmålningar” (wall-hangings), in their two Swedish farmsteads, Hallandsgården and Tvillingegården. The problem is that the climate is to humid, and follows the outdoors with no regulation possible.

The thesis describes the cultural history behind this type of objects. Analyses of materials are made for paper fibers, binding media and pigments. The climate and its consequences are laid out for the two farmsteads. Solutions for mounting unframed paper objects are described in relation to this type of objects and houses.
