The project aims to activate the potential of Brønshøj water tower by transforming it into a place for music and experimentation. Based on the lack of rehearsal spaces and music schools in outer Copenhagen, this project focuses on both the technical aspects of acoustics and the sensoric experience, creating a hierarchy of sensoric qualities as one moves up the tower’s mighty structure.

A series of plan drawings, showing the six programmatic subdivisions of the water tower transformation and the movement up through them.

Section nord/south: Section drawing showing the programmatic variety and sensoric experience. Firstly, the big structural space with a reverb of fifteen seconds, where the spiral ramp's scenography enhances the existing experience of both sound and light. Secondly, the human scaled level for rehearsal spaces, then continuing up to the concert hall, both lined with acoustic materials to alter the conditions for better sound quality. And finally the roof terrace, open air and exposed to the climate.
