The project explores the photobook as a medium through three photographic series by photojournalist Anders Holst: Pilehuset, Beyond the River and Reporting Live. The series operate within three different thematic and contextual frameworks: an old people’s home for dementia, an internationally unrecognized state between Moldova and Ukraine, and fragmented observations of human everyday life.
Through the development of three individually designed photobooks, the project investigates how photographic content can influence decisions regarding sequencing, format, typography, paper, materiality and binding. The publications are designed, produced and bound by me to create highly developed physical dummies that come as close as possible to finished photobooks. The intention is both to explore the relation between content and form, and to develop photobook prototypes that could potentially be published.

Reporting Live
is an ongoing series of analogue photographs taken in Denmark and abroad. Through observations of everyday life, Anders Holst captures moments that are humorous, absurd, and distinctly human. The series reflects on contemporary life through a playful blend of documentary observation and visual irony.
Beyond the River
explores life in Transnistria, an internationally unrecognized state between Moldova and Ukraine. Existing in a political and cultural limbo since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the region appears suspended between past and present. The photographs capture everyday life within a place that officially does not exist.
Pilehuset
This series documents a care home for elderly people with dementia in Brønshøj. Alongside portraits of residents, Anders Holst photographs interiors, objects, and details throughout the home. The series explores an environment shaped by memory, care, and familiarity, where specially constructed spaces blur the line between reality and representation.
