I am an architect and my research focusses on strategic sustainable urban development. I currently lead the Master in Strategic Urban Planning. Current research projects include Risk-assessment of Vector-borne Diseases based on Deep Learning and Remote Sensing and AI Imaginaries, which investigates the use of generative AI to promote public participation in planning processes.

This project focusses on the spatial transformation of Danish cities and countryside in the face of the need to address a current polycrisis scenario involving climate crisis, biodiversity crisis, environmental degradation and related challenges.
Denmark is facing a radical spatial restructuring and major policy initiatives, such as the Green Tripartite Agreement will have a decisive impact on land use across Denmark in the coming years.
According to the Danish Climate Law (https://www.retsinformation.dk/eli/lta/2020/965) Denmark is to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, and the realization of this goal will mobilize wide range of policy initiatives related to energy production, infrastructure investment and urban development, amongst others.
The extent of spatial transformation of Danish cities and countryside following the above-described developments has not yet been properly examined, but such transformation will have concrete effects for people’s daily lives, their housing conditions, commuting patterns, accessibility to nature and recreational facilities, amongst others.
VISUALISING THE SPATIAL IMPACT OF THE GREEN TRANSITION – FUTURE SCENARIOS
In the light of pervasive dynamics of change as a response to these crises, there is a growing need to develop tools to visualize future scenarios that illustrate the potential consequences of current policies for urban and rural transformations.
Generative AI has seen explosive growth in recent years, with its potential for image-based applications still in the early stages of systematic exploration. In urban development, studios like Urbanist AI have used generative AI to visualize urban projects focusing on public engagement.
In the context of transformative spatial changes due to the green transition and agricultural restructuring, this project explores the potential of generative AI for visualizing future scenarios in collaboration with local communities and stakeholders.
