Ida Engholm
Ida Engholm is Professor of Design History and Theory at the Royal Danish Academy. Her research explores the evolving role of design in societal and environmental transformation, with emphasis on the shift from human-centred to systemic and planetary perspectives, and how mindsets and methods from design can help imagine and shape alternative futures.

Current work
Her current work focuses on the role of design in the green transition, exploring systemic and transition design approaches to societal transformation and the development of more sustainable and regenerative futures. Her recent books include Design for the New World: From Human Design to Planet Design (Intellect, 2023) and DesignWISE: Create to Regenerate (Intellect, 2026). She is also co-editing a forthcoming Routledge anthology on the history of design management in Denmark.
