With the aim to explore the intersection between the abilities of the designer and artificial intelligence, the project combines the craft of weaving with the cutting-edge possibilities of AI. While all three textiles feature the same floral motif (the camellia flower), the use of AI technology progressively intensifies from the first to the third piece, resulting in an increase in abstraction. Through this process, the project transcends conventional design boundaries and blurs the lines between the digital and physical world.

From naturalistic to abstract. 10 pictures generated with Dream Studio AI. Three versions have been chosen and translated into the language of the digital TC2 loom.

The exploration of color and material serves as a testament to the transformative power of these elements in shaping our perception of art and design.

I have developed my own structures and surface design, to fully control the overall design of the three textiles.

Textile nr. 1. A naturalistic version of the camellia flower. No use of AI.

Textile nr. 2. A version of the camellia flower, becoming more abstract. Use of AI.

Textile nr. 3. An abstract version of the camellia flower. Use of AI.
