This project investigates the potential of revitalizing an old drydock in Copenhagen harbor to address the ongoing biodiversity crisis of marine life.

In close cross-disciplinary collaboration with marine biologists, the project proposes an underwater space which aims to cultivate a thriving marine ecosystem below, while engaging the public above, to foster interspecies urban habitation.

Legatudvalget sagde: “The project introduces a marine habitat in the water of the preserved drydock at Holmen, where Emma has investigated how the water of the drydock could become a pantry to the growing fish population in the Copenhagen harbour. The nomination is motivated by Emma’s attention to the ongoing biodiversity crisis of submarine life, the ambition to tie together history and a possible future of Copenhagen marine culture”.
