The project suggests a new furnishing for the Egyptian collection. The aim was to create a series of furniture in cohesion with the space, reflecting the same effort and quality as the architecture and art collection. The pieces aim to bridge the gap between tradition and modernity, as it reinterprets the monumental qualities of the sculptures, whilst imitating the outline of the floor plans.
The Glyptotek (from the Greek “glyptos”, which means carving or sculpture, and “theke”, a place where something is collected or displayed)
“A recent study has revealed that the average time museum visitors spend per art piece has decreased from 3 seconds to just one second. It would be beneficial to incorporate seating throughout the exhibitions to allow visitors to take a rest, encouraging them to engage with the art for longer periods.”
