An investigation of quiet structures of homogeneity within graphic design education
Who studies graphic design, and what is taught? This is an ethnographic study of graphic design education – a registration of habits and currents, a synthesis of thoughts, ideas, actions, and the weight of history. Through the collection and analysis of data, patterns of homogeneity emerge. I am asking a rather simple question, yet finding a complex answer.

With what purpose?
Copy-paste is a study of the makings of a graphic design student. Through interviews, surveys, theoretical research, and observations, I try to understand some of the structures at stake within the Royal Danish Academy of Architecture, Design and Conservation. I have approached this master project as an ethnographic study culminating with a 40 pages written thesis. This study matters, not because it discloses something entirely unexpected, but rather because by collecting and structuring different aspects of homogeneity, it becomes much easier to understand it, not as a singular phenomenon, but as a complex web of systems, norms and traditions. In constant movement.
The duality within the field of graphic design is displayed. How we both
become cultivators and opponents of cultural and social capital.
