The MetroPark: from Metro Line to Social Spine

The project’s main focus is to create more urban life in Ørestad, Copenhagen, engaging with the notion of liveability. It develops a set of strategies and spatial principles aimed at creating spaces for social interaction and fostering a stronger sense of community within the urban environment. Ultimately, the project seeks to transform the site from a place of movement into a place of dwelling and staying.

Three test sites are used to develop a set of strategies that can be applied elsewhere across the 2km long site, and potentially inform future local planning. A cohesive urban identity is established through a more defined aesthetic language informed by the site’s existing conditions. The site itself is approached as a form of archaeology, exploring how urban and landscape strategies can act as portals into its historical ecology and geology.
