Design for Comfort

We explore how design may address growing emotional wellbeing concerns by studying the potential positive impact of design on the body.

Bringing together sensor-based behavioral metrics, visual inquiry and ethnographic methods, we aim to understand how design may contribute to building resilience, offering relief, and reducing stress. One project study images as small moments of connection, joy or calm, referred to in neuropsychology as glimmers. Another looks at clothing as a potential site for comfort and how this may be measured physiologically using sensors.
