Academy Talks Design: Sean Sutcliffe

Academy Talks Design is an open lecture series held on Tuesday evenings at 16:15 at Holmen. The programme brings leading international practitioners to Copenhagen to share perspectives, critical insights, and approaches to contemporary design. Open to all, the talks offer a rare opportunity to engage with a broad range of influential voices shaping design practice.

Sean Sutcliffe co-founded and is Chairman of Benchmark, one of the UK's leading furniture-makers, internationally respected for its expertise in solid timber and its deep understanding of materials, process and making.  From finely detailed bespoke pieces to complex, large-scale architectural commissions, Benchmark collaborates with some of the world’s leading architects and creative practices.

Its work can be found in historic institutions, landmark buildings, and major commercial and residential projects worldwide. Sean cares deeply about sustainability and craftsmanship and has been a champion of the environmental and health and well-being benefits of using solid timber furniture in both commercial and residential settings for 40 years.
