Poverty increases the risk of becoming disabled and disability increases the risk of becoming poor. This vicious circle is a problem in many places around the world, and it is much exacerbated in humanitarian settings such as during disasters, distress, displacement, in refugee camps and under epidemics outbreaks.

Universal Design can be understood and implemented on many different levels, depending on the context. In this panel, we will explore and discuss how Universal Design can make a difference in some of the most extreme environments where both funding and governance structures are often deficient.
